What's the differences of thermoformed paddle and cold press paddle

The cold pressing process of Pickleball racket is as follows:

Prepare materials: Select high-quality materials, usually including carbon fiber sheets and other reinforcement materials.

Cutting material: The plate is cut to the appropriate size according to the design requirements.

Make a mold: Make a mold according to the racket design, usually consisting of two parts, the upper mold and the lower mold.

Assemble the mold: Put the cut sheet into the mold to ensure that the sheet fits the mold completely.

Apply pressure: Apply high pressure through hydraulic press and other equipment to cold press the sheet in the mold. The time and strength of the pressure should be controlled according to the material and design requirements.

Curing: After cold-pressed molding, the racket needs to be cured at ambient temperature for a period of time to ensure that the material is fully cured.

Remove the racket: Remove the cold-pressed racket, and trim and sand it to ensure that the surface of the racket is smooth.

Rackets manufactured by the cold pressing process usually have good performance and durability, and high production efficiency, suitable for mass production. However, the cold pressing process also requires strict control of pressure and temperature to ensure the molding effect and quality.

The hot pressing process of Pickleball racket is as follows:

Prepare materials: Select high-quality materials, usually including carbon fiber sheets and other reinforcement materials.

Cutting material: The plate is cut to the appropriate size according to the design requirements.

Pretreatment material: Surface treatment of the cut sheet, such as cleaning and coating glue, to improve the adhesion of the material.

Make a mold: Make a mold according to the racket design, usually consisting of two parts, the upper mold and the lower mold.

Assemble the mold: Place the pre-treated plate into the mold to ensure that the plate fits the mold completely.

Heating mold: Put the assembled mold into the heating equipment, heating to a certain temperature, so that the plate becomes soft at high temperature and forms a shape with the mold.

Apply pressure: After the plate is heated to the appropriate temperature, high pressure is applied through the hydraulic press and other equipment to make the plate formed in the mold. The time and strength of the pressure should be controlled according to the material and design requirements.

Curing: After thermoforming, the racket needs to be cooled in the mold for a period of time to allow the material to cure.

Remove the racket: Remove the cooled and solidified racket, and trim and sand it to ensure that the surface of the racket is smooth.

Rackets manufactured by the thermoforming process usually have higher strength and durability because the material is more likely to form a dense structure at high temperatures and pressures. However, the thermoforming process needs to control temperature and pressure, the process complexity is high, and the manufacturing cost is also high.

The difference between a hot formed racket and a cold pressed racket:

In Pickleball racket manufacturing, hot forming and cold pressing are two common manufacturing processes. There are some significant differences between them, including aspects such as manufacturing process, material properties and racket performance.

    Manufacturing process:

Thermoforming racket: Thermoforming is a process that uses high temperature and pressure to form the material. When making a thermoformed racket, the material is usually first heated to a certain temperature and then placed into a mold for molding.

Cold pressing racket: Cold pressing is a process that uses pressure to form materials at room temperature. In the manufacture of cold-pressed rackets, the material is placed directly into the mold and formed under the action of pressure without heating.

    Material properties:

Thermoformed rackets: Thermoformed rackets usually have better strength and durability due to being heated at high temperatures. The material can flow and bond better during the heating process, improving the overall performance of the racket.

Cold-pressed racket: The material of the cold-pressed racket has not been heated at high temperature, so there may be some incomplete material combination or uneven surface. This may affect the durability and performance of the racket.

    Racket Performance:

Thermoformed rackets: Because the material binds better at high temperatures, thermoformed rackets generally have a better sense of handling and power. Players can control the racket more precisely and gain more power and bounce.

Cold-pressed rackets: While cold-pressed rackets may be slightly inferior in strength and durability, they generally have a softer feel and better control. This makes cold-pressed rackets suitable for players who focus more on control than power.

In general, hot-formed rackets and cold-pressed rackets each have advantages, and which type of racquet to choose depends on the player's personal preference and style of play. Some players may prefer the feeling of strength and power of a thermoformed racket, while others may prefer the control and softness of a cold-pressed racket.
